Quim Márquez opened El Quim de la Boqueria in 1987 with a three-metre counter and just five stools. The stall has since grown, serving Catalan dishes cooked to order inside Barcelona’s La Boqueria market.
Come for breakfast or lunch at the counter, with fried eggs and baby squid among the best-known orders. The menu changes with the season and the produce available in the market. La Boqueria itself traces its origins to 1217, although the market as we know it today developed in the 19th century.
