Review

El Xampanyet opened in 1929 as Ca l’Esteve on Carrer de Montcada in Barcelona’s El Born. Anchovies and a glass of the house sparkling wine are the classic order at this small, tiled bar. Alongside seafood conservas and tortilla, there is very good freshly grilled seafood and a particularly tasty botifarra del perol, a traditional Catalan pork sausage. Reservations are not accepted. Arrive at least 15–20 minutes before opening, as the queue can be long.
