Review

If there is one restaurant in the UK that deserves a special trip for me, it is The Sportsman, located in the wild and enchanting village of Seasalter, right by the sea. Voted the best gastropub in the UK for several years, it is run by chef Stephen Harris, a former history teacher and punk musician who has no formal culinary training but a lifelong obsession with cooking. The Sportsman offers a five or three-course menu featuring simple dishes crafted from exceptional ingredients, all executed to Michelin standards. It is well worth the two-hour drive from London, so be sure to book well in advance.
