Review
Originally opened as a merendero in the 1960s, Sa Pedrera is one of Menorca’s oldest restaurants. It became a popular gathering place for locals and the island’s first visitors before being taken over in 2003 by Asturian couple Nuria Pendás and Daniel Mora, who transformed it into their life project while preserving the warm, welcoming spirit that has defined the restaurant for decades.
The cuisine is firmly rooted in Menorca, celebrating the island’s outstanding produce while drawing on Daniel Mora’s Asturian heritage and subtle French influences. The cooking remains classic in style, combining traditional Menorcan recipes with carefully executed French techniques and flavours from northern Spain.
Signature dishes include the traditional Menorcan oliaigua, served with figs and different textures; creamy cuttlefish rice with broad beans and scarlet prawns; skate wing with black butter, caper leaves and sea fennel; and the restaurant’s renowned Beef Wellington, wrapped in cocoa pastry, filled with mushrooms and foie gras, and served with a rich gravy sauce.
The wine programme is equally impressive, with a cellar of more than 400 references spanning 41 wine regions across 10 countries, offering a broad selection to accompany both the tasting menu and the à la carte menu.
