Review

Opened in 2009 in a converted early-20th-century building near Porta Garibaldi, Ratanà was among the first to redefine the concept of a contemporary trattoria in Italy. Chef Cesare Battisti reinterprets Lombard classics such as risotto alla Milanese and cotoletta with precision, lightness, and carefully sourced ingredients from small producers.

His philosophy, codified in a Cuisine Decalogue, places sustainability — environmental, economic, and social — at its core. At Ratanà, memory and modernity meet: traditional flavors are reimagined through innovative techniques and presented in an atmosphere that feels both Milanese and cosmopolitan.
