Founded in 1950 by Christian Cantin, one of France’s great maîtres fromagers and the founder of the Guilde des Fromagers, La Maison Cantin remains a benchmark for artisanal cheese in Paris. Today, his daughter Marie-Anne continues the family tradition, aging small-batch cheeses from across rural France in the five cellars beneath her boutique on rue du Champ-de-Mars. The selection—around 200 varieties—ranges from long-aged, nutty Comté to creamy, tangy Roquefort that pairs beautifully with pain d’épices. Marie-Anne and her husband also host tastings and workshops, sharing their deep knowledge of terroir and affinage with both locals and visitors.
