Frantzén is Sweden’s first three-star restaurant, offering a seasonal tasting menu rooted in Nordic produce with refined Japanese influence. I’ve been visiting since it first opened in its original location in 2008, and I always love to return. Before becoming a chef, Björn Frantzén was a professional football player, later training in some of Europe’s leading fine-dining kitchens. It’s not only about the food: Frantzén was one of the first to create a full experience where the meal unfolds as you move through different spaces. Here, the progression spans three levels of a townhouse in central Stockholm, from the lobby to the dining room and then the loft-level lounge, with both alcoholic and non-alcoholic pairings available.
