Review
Dukes Bar, located within DUKES London Mayfair, is a discreet, old-school institution set on a quiet cul-de-sac in St. James’s. Opened in 1908, the bar is best known for its iconic martinis, prepared with ritual precision using frozen glasses, ice-cold spirits and no ice, allowing the drink to be savoured slowly and at its purest.
Long associated with Ian Fleming, Dukes Bar is often cited as an inspiration for the martini-drinking habits of James Bond. The atmosphere is intimate and quietly sophisticated, guided by tradition, craftsmanship and a sense of timeless London elegance.
Space is limited and reservations are not taken, with demand often exceeding capacity. Arriving shortly before opening is advisable. While the hotel is undergoing refurbishment until late summer 2026, Dukes Bar remains open, with Alessandro and his team continuing to welcome guests for its signature martinis.
