Chakaiseki Akiyoshi is one of the finest kaiseki restaurants outside Japan, run by chef Yuichiro Akiyoshi and his wife Misuzu. Trained for a decade at Kyoto’s legendary Hyōtei, a three-Michelin-star institution, Yuichiro went on to cook for three years at the Japanese Embassy to the OECD in Paris before opening his own restaurant. Here, the couple practice the art of chakaiseki—the refined culinary tradition born from the tea ceremony—where each seasonal dish is designed with balance, harmony, and hospitality at its core. The intimate room, crafted by Japanese carpenters in the sukiya style, offers both counter seating, to watch the chef at work, and tables that evoke the atmosphere of a true Japanese tea house.
