Hotel & Chalet Aurelio

Lech,
Austria

Editor’s Note

"Hotel & Chalet Aurelio is everything you hope for from a boutique stay. It’s small enough to deliver personal and exclusive service, yet generous enough in its facilities to rival much larger resorts. The Licca Lounge is particularly hard to leave once the open fire is lit and the post-ski cocktails begin arriving. The main highlight, though: the food. Simply superb."

Review

Hotel & Chalet Aurelio sits at around 1500m on Lech’s Schlegelkoft piste, giving it the rare advantage of feeling tucked away while still placing the Arlberg directly outside the door. In winter, that means convenient ski-in, ski-out.

The hotel is intimate, with just 10 individually designed rooms and suites spread across two alpine houses. Eight Top Deluxe Double Rooms measuring 55 sqm and two Aurelio Suites offering 110 sqm of space, including separate living areas. Every room has a south-facing balcony overlooking Lech and the surrounding mountains. Interiors by Tino Zervudachi add contemporary detailing to the warmth of a private alpine residence. British photographer Tim Hall adds another sense of place, with works created especially for Aurelio depicting the landscape just beyond the windows.

The spa is a world unto itself, and surprisingly substantial for a hotel of its size. A 23m pool, whirlpool, cold plunge and a full sauna experience spanning Finnish, herbal bio and aroma steam varieties. After a day on the mountains, you can then melt into the Licca Lounge’s deep seating enclosed around an open fireplace. The sun terrace is another place to pause and take in the slopes and hiking landscape.

Restaurant Aurelio’s, headed up by Chef Karl Eggetsberger, combines Austrian and international cuisine with regional ingredients. Eggertsberger’s culinary direction has been shaped by his experience at renowned establishments and the prestigious international foundation program Fundaziun Uccelin.

Aurelio’s service is highly personal, with 24-hour concierge, room service and reception. A complimentary chauffeur is also on offer to shuttle guests between Lech and Zürs; helicopter transfers and limousine service can be arranged as a lavish bonus. For guests craving still more privacy, the underground-connected Aurelio Club Chalet delivers 1,500sqm of secluded luxury. Two suites and six double rooms come paired with a private 24/7 butler, an in-house chef, a cinema-equipped living room and a dedicated spa featuring its own 18m pool and treatment rooms. It’s a hideaway within a hideaway – ideal for families or small groups wanting total exclusivity without sacrificing any of Aurelio’s signature service.
