Review

Café Japan is a discreet sushi and izakaya-style restaurant just a few minutes’ walk from Golders Green Tube station. Owned by the Atariya Group, it benefits from direct access to top-quality Japanese ingredients, with fish and seafood sourced through the group’s specialist supply arm.

The menu focuses on fresh sushi and sashimi alongside a broader selection of authentic Japanese dishes. Reopened after a full refurbishment in December 2015, the dining room is warm and unfussy, drawing a loyal local following. It’s a longer journey from central London, but one that’s well rewarded—booking is essential.
