Toraya

One of the oldest Japanese pastry shops and tea rooms in Paris, Toraya has deep roots in Japan, where it was founded more than five centuries ago and became purveyor to the Imperial Court. The Paris outpost opened in 1980 with the mission of introducing wagashi—traditional Japanese confections often enjoyed with tea—to an international audience. Since then, it has remained a refined address for delicate yokan, dorayaki, and seasonal sweets, as well as a cultural bridge, hosting events and collaborations that celebrate Japanese craftsmanship in France. At lunchtime, Toraya also serves light Japanese menus—such as rice bowls with seasonal toppings—making it an equally elegant stop for a simple, savoury meal.
