The city centre sister restaurants of the much loved Cesare al Casaletto, Trattoria da Cesare al Pellegrino brings the same Roman rigor to Via del Pellegrino, a few steps from Campo de’ Fiori. Opened by Leonardo Vignoli and Maria Pia Cicconi as a natural extension of the Monteverde original, it distils the Casaletto spirit into a more compact, central format.

The menu focuses on the essentials of cucina romana: well-executed pastas, seasonal vegetables, offal dishes, and recipes rooted in memory rather than reinvention. Portions are generous, flavours direct, and technique precise, reflecting Leonardo’s fine dining background without ever feeling formal.

Less of a destination pilgrimage than Casaletto, Pellegrino is instead a reliable, honest Roman trattoria for those wanting tradition done properly in the historic centre.
