Review
El Pegolí is one of Dénia’s most emblematic seafood restaurants, a place closely tied to the city’s maritime culture and its celebrated red prawns. Founded in 1943 by Pepe Piera — known locally as El Pegolí — it is now run by his children, who continue the family’s long-standing approach to traditional Dénian cuisine.
The restaurant sits in Les Rotes, right on the water, with bright windows and a simple, classic dining room that reflects decades of coastal hospitality. Guests can order from the menu or opt for the longstanding house format that ends with arroz a banda, prepared and served with the space and ceremony that rice dishes deserve. Old photographs, awards, and the sea just beyond the terrace give the place its unmistakable sense of history.
