Planque is a modern bistro in Haggerston, East London, with a serious focus on wine—particularly rare, niche, and cellar-aged bottles. At its heart is a 60-seat dining room anchored by a large communal table, set within a cool, urban space that feels relaxed rather than studied.
The kitchen is led by Australian chef Sebastian Myers, who cooks modern European dishes that are simple, precise, and quietly inventive. Plates are designed to work naturally with the wine list, which blends carefully matured bottles from the cellar with a thoughtful selection of current releases.
It’s a long way from central London, but very much worth the journey—one of the city’s most consistently enjoyable places to eat and drink, and somewhere I’m always happy to travel for.
