Located just off Campo de’ Fiori, Il San Lorenzo is often considered Rome’s benchmark for seafood, defined by precision and deep respect for the product. The kitchen works with some of the best fish and shellfish sourced from the Italian shores, served raw or simply cooked.
The sole point of contrast lies in the dining room itself. The interior favours a decorative, almost theatrical approach, which sits at odds with the restraint and clarity of the cooking. For some, this exuberance will read as part of the Roman character; for others, it remains the only real distraction from an otherwise exemplary seafood experience.
