El Bigotes is a simple, time-honoured chiringuito on Cala Mastella, known for its rustic setting and panoramic sea views. Founded decades ago by Juan Ferrer — who sadly passed away at an old age — it has stayed faithful to an old Ibizan way of cooking, a tradition now carried on by his family. In his later years, he was often seen sitting by the fire, drinking wine from a porrón, the classic Spanish glass jar poured from high above the head — a scene that became part of the place’s identity.
The rhythm of the day remains unchanged: arrive at 12:30 for grilled rockfish and a simple salad, or at 14:30 for the famous bullit de peix, simmered over fire with the morning’s catch. It’s one of those rare Ibizan rituals that continues exactly as it always was.
