Review
One-Michelin-starred 64 Goodge Street is a convivial, cosy bistro from the Woodhead Group, the team behind Quality Chophouse and Quality Wines. The restaurant describes its approach as French cooking from an outsider’s perspective—a framing that feels both respectful and quietly playful.
The menu draws on an idealised vision of classical French cuisine, filtered through a modern sensibility. Canonical French texts inform the cooking, from their storied dishes to their rich yet restrained sauces, which Head Chef Stuart Andrew revisits with a light, gently iconoclastic touch. Expect French classics such as gougères, crisp frogs’ legs, and vol-au-vent, cooked with confidence rather than nostalgia.
The result is a bistro that feels grounded and generous, serious about tradition yet refreshingly unprecious—very much in line with the Woodhead Group’s quietly assured style.
