Review
The Kronenhalle is one of Zürich’s true institutions, as much a symbol of the city as the Grossmünster. Opened in 1924 by Hulda and Gottlieb Zumsteg, it quickly became a meeting place for artists, writers, and bon vivants drawn to its warm, familial atmosphere and hearty, down-to-earth cooking. Under the stewardship of their son Gustav, a passionate art collector, the restaurant’s walls filled with works by the likes of Chagall, Miró, and Giacometti—making a meal here as much about culture as cuisine. Nearly a century later, the Kronenhalle remains a living legend where history, art, and hospitality come together at the table.
